Mew ex 151 UPC pop report: one grade point, eight times the price
A raw copy of this promo cleared a $77.42 median across sixty eBay sales in the three months to September 8, 2026. A PSA 10 cleared $852.50. One grade separates those two cards, and the Mew ex 151 Ultra-Premium Collection pop report is the record of how often that grade turns up: 10,988 Gem Mint 10s out of 60,782 submissions at the September 6, 2026 pull, 18.1 percent, with 32,862 copies stopped one point short of the money.
Reading the Mew ex 151 Ultra-Premium Collection pop report
The census is not spread out. It is stacked on one grade. At the September 6, 2026 pull 54.07 percent of every Mew ex SVP 053 ever submitted sits in a PSA 9 holder, and of the thirty seven English cards this dataset tracks past 40,000 grades, exactly one keeps a bigger share of its population there: the Charizard V out of the 2022 Sword and Shield Ultra-Premium Collection, at 55.76 percent.
Another 13,778 came back an 8. Only 3,150 of the 60,782 landed at 7 or below.
That last figure reframes the rest. Five percent of submissions arrive beaten up enough to fall out of the top three grades, so these cards are not getting damaged on the way to PSA. They are getting measured, and most miss by a hair. Among English cards printed in 2023 or later that have passed 50,000 grades, none gems less often.
One box, two promos, twenty thousand grades apart
Pokemon.com's product page for the Scarlet and Violet 151 Ultra-Premium Collection, launched October 6, 2023, lists the contents plainly: one etched foil promo featuring Mew ex, one full art foil promo featuring Mewtwo, one etched metal Mew ex, sixteen booster packs. One of each promo per box, no pack odds involved.
The two promos therefore have the same print run by construction. They do not have the same census. Mewtwo SVP 052 stands at 40,636 grades and a 20.57 percent gem rate at this pull, against 60,782 here. Twenty thousand more Mew ex have been mailed in off an identical number of boxes.
The grade shapes diverge too, and not in the direction the submission gap suggests. Mewtwo keeps 11.86 percent of its census at 7 or below, more than double this card's, and still gems two and a half points better. Mewtwo takes the damage; Mew ex takes the near misses. What the two share is a ceiling, since neither clears 21 percent, roughly what happened to all three promos in the 2022 Charizard box. Two boxes and five cards is worth watching, not trusting.
Yoshida's only Mew ex
The credit line reads Illus. Natsumi Yoshida. Mew arcs across a pink and orange sky above a pastel town, bunting strung roof to roof, a woman resting her chin on her hand at an upstairs window. That illustration lives here and nowhere else in English, because the three Mew ex prints inside the 151 set itself, the double rare at 151, the ultra rare at 193 and the hyper rare at 205, are all credited to aky CG Works.
What the layout leaves exposed is where the grading problem starts. A light silver frame runs the full perimeter and the illustration comes right up to it, so that border is both the line a grader centres against and a surface that shows a nicked corner immediately. Pokemon.com calls the promo etched foil, which puts texture across the face too. Set that beside the census shape and the reading is not much of a stretch: a card that leaves a sealed box and still lands on a 9 more than half the time is failing on cut and finish, not on handling.
Which makes the pre-screen a measuring job. Compare the width of the silver band top against bottom and left against right before you pay a fee, because on a frame this pale a cut that is off by a fraction is legible to the naked eye.
The ten went up while the card went down
PriceCharting's monthly series, units confirmed against the live price table on the same page, bottoms out in March 2024 at $4.77 raw and $44.50 for a PSA 10. The climb started that autumn and did not really stop. September 2025 read $84.73 and $732.50.
Then the two ends of the same card separated. Raw peaked at $90.48 in April 2026 and has fallen every month since, to $73.51 on September 8, 2026, and the PSA 9 peaked at $123.50 in June against $104.59 now. The PSA 10 peaked the same month at $914.33 and sits at $855.61, only 6.4 percent off its high. Over twelve months the raw card is down 13.2 percent, the PSA 9 down 11.4 percent, the PSA 10 up 16.8 percent.
Money is draining out of the bottom of this card and pooling at the top of it.
Depth is there to get out on, which is not always true of a promo. Thirty PSA 10 sales fit between August 10 and September 7, 2026, roughly one a day, at that $852.50 median, and thirty PSA 9 sales took nineteen days at $102.51.
Running the fee against a seven percent door
| Grading math | Amount |
|---|---|
| Raw copy (as of September 8, 2026) | $77 |
| PSA grading, Regular service | $80 |
| PSA 10 sale (as of September 8, 2026, PriceCharting sold tape) | $853 |
| PSA 9 sale (as of September 8, 2026, PriceCharting sold tape) | $103 |
| Margin if it gems | +$695 |
| Margin at PSA 9 | -$55 |
PSA listed Regular service at $79.99 on September 8, 2026, Value tiers still paused, estimated turnaround 70 to 80 business days. An $855 ceiling sits well under Regular's $1,500 declared value cap, so that is the tier, and there is no cheaper one to reach for.
Selling the slab costs something near 15 percent once eBay and shipping have taken their cut, so a ten nets about $725 against $157.41 of card plus fee, and a nine nets about $87, seventy dollars short of what you spent. The 8 is the quiet one: PriceCharting values Grade 8 at $74.00 against $73.51 ungraded. Forty nine cents, before the fee.
Weight the four outcomes by the lifetime census and a submission returns about $195 against $157.41, a 24 percent edge, with breakeven at a 12.2 percent gem rate. On the 18.1 percent lifetime figure this is a trade. On the trailing figure it is not: GemRate's thirty day gem rate here reads 7 percent at the September 6, 2026 pull, across the 1,139 grades PSA returned in that window, and the same arithmetic against 7 percent returns about $124. A 21 percent loss you wait four months to take.
That is not a defect in this particular card. Thirty five of those thirty seven English rows are grading below their lifetime rate at this pull, the two exceptions being 2025 Mega Evolution promos still absorbing fresh product, and this row's eleven point gap ranks fifteenth of the thirty seven. Where the drop lands is what matters, not how far it fell: a card sliding from 42 percent to 30 is still a submission, and a card sliding to 7 is under the door. The Greninja Gold Star gems about five percent and still clears its fee, which is the spread doing that work, never the odds.
PSA still returned 1,139 of these last period, on a -29% thirty day trend. At this queue length those went in the mail around May, when the ten traded near $830 and the door had not narrowed this far.
Before you mail it
Buy the finished slab. One changes hands most days in the $800s and it arrives this week rather than next winter. Making one costs $157.41 and four months for what this month's returns price at seven chances in a hundred.
Holding a raw copy is a bet on the end of this card that has fallen five months running, so decide it on the price series, not the population. Reading a census as a valuation is the trap our guide to why a gem rate is not a scarcity number keeps returning to. Sort every row by gem rate, census and price in the BetterPop browser, or start with the cards whose PSA 10 count is genuinely small if scarcity is the actual goal.
