Charizard V SWSH260 pop report: nine prints, one that will not gem

Two English promo cards carry the name Charizard V, and both arrived one to a sealed box with no pack to open first. The 2020 one comes back Gem Mint 10 more than half the time. This one does not. At the September 7, 2026 pull the Charizard V SWSH260 pop report reads 7,702 Gem Mint 10s from 43,458 submissions, a 17.7 percent gem rate, with 24,232 copies stopped at PSA 9.

Nine Charizard V prints, and eight of them gem

Nine English cards named Charizard V have passed three thousand PSA submissions. Eight of them return a 10 somewhere between 41.28 and 63.09 percent of the time, from Lance's Charizard V of Celebrations at the bottom to the Champion's Path secret rare at the top. The ninth is this one at 17.7 percent, twenty three points beneath the weakest of the other eight.

Two smaller prints do land lower, both from Play! Pokemon Prize Packs, at 6.72 and 8.03 percent. Each sits on fewer than 140 grades, which is not yet a number.

Damage is not what is happening here. 9,558 copies stop at PSA 8 and only 1,958 land at 7 or lower, under five percent of everything submitted. The cards turn up in good order and get measured out of the top grade.

The other Charizard V that came in a sealed box

SWSH050 is the control worth having. Pokemon put one full art Charizard V promo in every Champion's Path Elite Trainer Box in 2020, the same arrangement this collection offered two years later, and that card carries 90,798 grades at 56.28 percent. Same Pokemon, same card type, same handover: one copy, sealed, no pull rate standing between the buyer and it. Its own census has gone quiet since, but the odds it recorded are nowhere near these.

Thirty eight points, on the same name.

That takes the box channel off the table and leaves the print. Pokemon's product page sells the 2022 collection on its finish, listing "3 etched foil promo cards" among the contents. Raised texture across a card face holds handling marks that flat foil sheds, and it puts print flaws in view from more angles than one. The VSTAR out of the same three card sleeve lands at 15.44 percent and the VMAX at 21.48, so whatever is doing this is doing it to all three.

The format is not the villain either. A 2025 Ultra-Premium Collection promo gems at 47.98 percent across 110,448 grades, while the 2023 collection box that followed this one sits at 18.08. Two boxes in a row out of that stretch grade like this and the one three years later does not. The census points that way without closing it. Our guide covers how these columns get assembled.

A hundred cards, twenty five of them stadiums

Serebii's artist index lists 100 cards for Oswaldo KATO, and 25 of them are Stadiums: Artazon, Beach Court, Cycling Road, Jubilife Village, the flat scenery a deck runs on. Seven are Pokemon V, VMAX or ex, and exactly one of those is a Charizard.

It reads like a landscape artist being handed a Charizard. The dragon is curled up asleep inside a scene rather than posed mid roar in front of one, which is why sellers on eBay keep listing it as the sleeping Charizard instead of by its number.

Fifty five dollars in January 2024, six hundred now

PriceCharting's monthly PSA 10 series opens this card at $158.36 in November 2022 and bottoms at $55.75 in January 2024. It reached $464.99 in September 2025 and peaked at $681.40 in June 2026. The quoted value read $633.82 on September 10, 2026, seven percent under that peak, and twenty nine titled PSA 10 sales between June 23 and September 1 ran a median of $625.00 against a low of $500.00 and a high of $775.00. Model and tape agree.

The 9 does not follow it anywhere. Nineteen titled PSA 9 sales between August 10 and September 6, 2026 ran a median of $70.00, against a raw copy PriceCharting valued at $42.45 on the same read. Twenty seven dollars of daylight, before anyone has paid a fee.

Seven points of margin, and the week the fee moved

PSA has just rewritten the ladder under this card. A new Standard service level opens on September 14, 2026 at $59.99 per card, capped at $1,000 of declared value with an estimated 90 to 100 business day turnaround, and the $79.99 tier is being renamed from Regular to Priority, still 70 to 80 business days and still capped at $1,500. Value tiers stay paused. A $625 card fits Standard, so the cheaper door reopens for this one at the price of another month standing in line.

Price the four outcomes by how often the census actually delivers them. At the September 7, 2026 pull that is 17.7 percent on the 10 at $625, PSA 9 on 55.8 percent at $70, PSA 8 on 22.0 percent at $50 and the remainder below, which averages about $163 a submission. Net of the roughly 15 percent eBay takes on a slab sale, $138 comes back against $103 all in at Standard. Breakeven sits at a 10.4 percent gem rate, or 14.6 percent if you pay the $79.99 for the shorter queue.

Then there is what PSA has actually been handing out. Between the August 13 and September 7 pulls it returned 415 of these and 11 of them were 10s, a 2.7 percent rate over those weeks. Run the same arithmetic at 2.7 percent and $66 comes back against $103.

Attach a caution to that figure. 36 of the 38 English cards past forty thousand grades came in under their lifetime rate over the same window, so the drop is cohort wide rather than a fault that appeared in this one card, and the 2023 Charizard ex went through its own version of it. What is specific here is the size. Of those 38, only three fell further measured against their own lifetime rate, and all three are vintage rows already gemming under two percent, with nothing like fifteen points available to lose.

Do not send one you have not held

Pale grass covers most of this illustration, so roller lines and surface scuffs sit in plain view where a dark full art would swallow them. Read the light areas first, then compare the silver border width top against bottom and left against right. Seven points of margin over breakeven does not survive a copy bought sight unseen off a listing page, and a published gem rate is built only from cards their owners already thought were worth the fee.
