Celebrations Charizard pop report: the reprint that actually gems

Same Arita painting, same 4/102 in the corner, opposite census. The Celebrations Classic Collection Charizard has produced 35,635 PSA 10s from 60,139 submissions since October 2021, a 59.3 percent gem rate. The 1999 original it replicates needed 27 years and 104,121 submissions to make 488. One painting, two gem rates separated by two orders of magnitude, and the whole difference is manufacturing.

Five years of grading, counted

From the August 13, 2026 pull: 60,139 graded, 35,635 tens, 21,460 nines, 2,199 eights, and just 64 copies that failed grading outright. The 30 day trend reads -2%, with 1,179 grades added last period. This row spent 2022 as one of the most submitted cards in PSA's intake, and Misprint's most-graded ranking still lists it among the all timers.

The gem rate is the story. Six copies in ten come back perfect. Not because graders go easy on it, but because a 2021 press run card, sold in four card all foil packs at the peak of the grading boom, went from pack to penny sleeve to submission box without ever meeting a shoebox.

What exactly is this card?

Celebrations was the TCG's 25th anniversary set, released October 8, 2021, with a 25 card Classic Collection subset reprinting famous cards inside branded products. This Charizard keeps the original's numbering, rarity symbol, and even the 1995-96-98 copyright line, adds a gold 25th anniversary stamp, and swaps the 1999 cosmos holofoil for a modern etched confetti foil the original never had. Every copy is holo, and per one Australian shop's 778 pack opening, it fell roughly once per 97 packs, a genuinely tough pull that mass product volume turned into one of the largest censuses in the hobby anyway.

Why the reprint gems and the original cannot

Modern die cutting holds centering inside PSA's window by default; 1999 sheet cuts missed it before the shrink came off. Modern foil resists the scratches the old cosmos holo collected at the factory. The community's read on the remaining gap between the 21,460 nines and the tens is fine left-right centering on the vintage style yellow border and hairline confetti foil scratches that only show when the card tilts. The economics of abundance

None of those spreads is generous. The 10 roughly triples raw, the 9 barely covers the fee, and anything below 9 is a loss against the $80 Regular tier. This is the census working exactly as economics says it should: when 35,635 perfect copies exist and more arrive weekly, the slab premium compresses toward the grading cost. Is submitting worth it here?

Check the centering before anything else, left border against right; that is where this print loses its tens. Then be clear eyed about the 9 outcome paying $212 against $255 all in. This card's best use is calibration: it is what a healthy modern census looks like, and it makes the low pop Pokemon cards on the other end of the distribution legible.
