Oricorio ex pop report: the other card in the Charizard box

PSA has graded one Oricorio card seventeen times more often than every other English Oricorio ever printed, put together. As of the September 12, 2026 pull, the Oricorio ex pop report puts card 024 of the Mega Evolution Black Star Promos at 60,003 grades. The other forty English Oricorio prints in the dataset, every set card, every reverse holo, every GX going back to 2017, total 3,517 between them.

No collector went hunting for this bird. It shipped beside a Charizard, and the census followed the Charizard.

What the Oricorio ex pop report counts

60,003 graded. 31,677 tens, 23,494 nines, 3,707 eights, 2 Authentic, and 1,123 sitting at PSA 7 or lower. That is a 52.8 percent gem rate, 5,048 copies added in the last reporting period, and a 30 day trend reading -25%.

Twenty one English cards in the dataset have passed 50,000 grades at this pull. Nine of them are Charizard. Three are Mew, two are Pikachu, two are Blastoise, and there is one each of Venusaur, Eevee, Greninja and the Kanto legendary bird trio. Then there is a dancing bird from Alola.

The failures are tolerance rather than damage, which is worth knowing before anyone blames the print. Only 1,123 copies of 60,003 came back under an 8. Nothing much is getting hurt on the way to PSA. It is getting measured and found a fraction out.

The other two Oricorio ex from the same year

The same Pokemon received two other English ex prints in 2025, both inside Phantasmal Flames: card 018 at the base rarity and card 110 as an Ultra Rare. Between them they have taken 983 grades at the September 12, 2026 pull. This promo has taken sixty one times that.

Now run the identical test on the card it shipped beside. Mega Charizard X ex 023 stands at 112,913 grades at that same pull, and its five other English prints add up to 127,657. The promo is 0.88 times what its own Pokemon draws everywhere else. Charizard gets mailed in wherever it is printed. Oricorio gets mailed in here.

Both promos came one to a box, so print run is not the variable. What most likely separates them is which card a submitter thinks is worth a grading fee, and that is an inference drawn from two censuses rather than anything PSA publishes. The publisher called it the helper card

The Pokemon Company's product copy for the Mega Charizard X ex Ultra-Premium Collection, carried by PokeGuardian on September 3, 2025, introduces the second promo as "another foil promo card featuring Oricorio ex to help get more Fire Energy into play."

The card face agrees with the marketing. Its Excited Turbo Ability does nothing at all unless you have a Fire Mega Evolution Pokemon ex in play, and what it then does is attach Fire Energy to a benched Pokemon. A 190 HP Basic whose job is to fuel the other card in the box.

That box reached retail on November 14, 2025 holding one foil Mega Charizard X ex promo, one foil Oricorio ex promo, 18 booster packs, 65 sleeves, a playmat, a deck box, a metal coin and six dice. PSA logged the first copies of card 024 during the week of November 22, 2025, one week behind the shelves.

Kanda drew this one and the Distortion World

Shinji Kanda takes the illustrator credit on the card face. He also drew Giratina V 186/196 in Lost Origin, a card with a far better reputation and its own Giratina V alt art pop report.

Set the two next to each other and the hand is unmistakable. Neither card allows itself any quiet space. The subject floats over a packed field of ornament, flowers and shards and small glinting points stacked right out to the border. Giratina gets that treatment in near black. The Oricorio runs it in reds and oranges, with the bird curled inside a ring of flame.

Three hundred dollars in December, ninety four in September

PriceCharting's monthly history on this card, read September 14, 2026, opens high and falls most of the way down. A PSA 10 charted $302.19 in December 2025 and $94.29 in September 2026, a drop of 68.8 percent. A Grade 9 went $59.74 in November 2025 to $24.20. Raw copies went $25.38 to $12.31.

Realised sales agree with the algorithm here. Thirty PSA 10 sales cleared a $90.00 median and every one of them landed on September 12 or 13, 2026. The Grade 9 tape cleared $21.66 across thirty sales in ten days, and sixty raw copies cleared $12.12 between May 11 and September 14, 2026.

Thirty tens in two days. Whatever ails this card, it is not liquidity.

Submissions are slowing rather than stopping. 5,048 copies arrived last period against 6,703 the period before. Weekly grades peaked at 3,043 in the week of May 2, 2026 and have run between 1,084 and 1,389 for the past month.

Even a perfect ten clears four dollars

Work down from the ceiling. A PSA 10 cleared a $90.00 median on September 12 and 13, 2026. Take 15 percent off for the platform cut and shipping a slab and $76.50 stays in your pocket.

A raw copy costs $12.31 and PSA's Standard tier costs $59.99, so $72.30 leaves it. The best outcome available, a ten every single time with no misses at all, returns $4.20 a card.

PSA opened that Standard tier on September 14, 2026 at $59.99 for an estimated 90 to 100 business days and a $1,000 maximum insured value, renamed Regular to Priority at $79.99, and left the Value tiers paused. At Priority the trade loses money even on a guaranteed ten.

Weight the payouts by the grades this census actually returns and a submission comes back around $48.54 net against $72.30 of cost, a 33 percent loss. Breakeven sits near a 93 percent gem rate. This card gems 52.8 percent.

The odds are not the problem, which is the part people get wrong. The trailing 30 day gem rate on this row is 56.0 percent, running above its own lifetime figure, and only three of the 39 English cards past 40,000 grades are beating lifetime at this pull. It changes nothing. When the fee costs five times the card, no gem rate rescues the arithmetic.

What to do with the one in your box

Sell it raw or leave it where it is. A finished PSA 10 has cleared about $90 all month, somebody else already paid the fee and waited out the queue, and there is no version of submitting yours that beats buying theirs.
